Ontario has reached agreements with two First Nations on infrastructure projects that could support the development of the so-called Ring of Fire, a promising mineral development opportunity in the province's far north.
The agreements with the Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation include building all-season roads that will connect the isolated Ring of Fire to manufacturing hubs in the south.
Minister of Mines George Pirie and Chiefs Bruce Achneepineskum and Cornelius Wabasse announced the deal at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention in Toronto on Tuesday.
