Canada's premiers are requesting a first minsters' meeting "as soon as possible" to discuss how to best approach the incoming Trump administration south of the border.
The premiers said they want to know how Prime Minister Trudeau will work with them on the coming review of the continental free trade deal and who he will tap from cabinet to take on the file.
"As we look to welcome the incoming U.S. administration, it is important that we act now to work together and seize this opportunity to grow and strengthen our historic partnership with the U.S. We look forward to hearing from you shortly on timing for a First Ministers’ Meeting," read a letter from Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who is serving as chair of the Council of the Federation, which is made up of all provincial and territorial leaders.
