Ontario Premier Doug Ford is following through on his promise to slap a 25 per cent charge on electricity exports to three states, starting Monday.
This move comes as a direct response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada.
Ford told CNN this Thursday he has no choice but to hit back, even though the U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross suggested the American tariffs on Canada and Mexico might be put on hold for 30 days. The White House has since confirmed that Mexico’s tariffs are on pause — but Canada didn't immediately received the same treatment.
