Premier Ford calls byelections in Milton, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex

Both byelections were prompted by members of Ford's cabinet resigning.

Premier Doug Ford on Wednesday announced that voters in two ridings would head to the polls on May 2.

The byelections in Milton and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex are shaping up to be tests of the governing PCs' popularity and the impact of new Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie.

The PCs have long held Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, with candidate Monte McNaughton taking nearly 60 per cent of the vote in 2022. McNaughton, then the labour minister, resigned his seat and from cabinet in September and has since taken a job as an executive for Woodbine Entertainment.
