So much for a close race.
The Progressive Conservatives won convincing victories in two byelections on Thursday, defying expectations of a nail-biter in the battleground riding of Milton.
Polls had shown a neck-and-neck tilt in the run-up to the vote in the Greater Toronto Area riding, but PC candidate Zee Hamid ended up running away with the race, drawing 48 per cent of the vote, with nearly 79 per cent of the polls reporting. Liberal Galen Naidoo-Harris was trailing Hamid by nearly 10 points, while the NDP sat a distant third, with less than 7 per cent of the vote.
