Ontario Science Centre at end of life, relocation far preferable, says Infrastructure Ontario

After eight months of delaying its release, the Ontario government revealed the analysis supporting their decision to move the Ontario Science Centre (OSC) from its current Thorncliffe Park location to Ontario Place, saying it will save the province more than $250 million compared to fixing the current facility.

Michael Lindsay, president and CEO of Infrastructure Ontario, held a technical briefing on Wednesday, outlining the details of the report, including how building a completely new OSC as part of the will save the province more than a quarter billion dollars over a 50-year period.

The announcement of the move back in April 2023 was met with considerable pushback, however, Premier Doug Ford and the province maintained the costs to rehabilitate the crumbling infrastructure at the OSC made the move imperative, a belief the business case supports.
