Ontario plans three more small modular nuclear reactors for Darlington

Ontario is working to bring three new small modular nuclear reactors to the Darlington plant.

Energy Minister Todd Smith made the announcement Friday at the facility, saying the new reactors will help the province keep up with surging energy demand.

“Once these SMRs are deployed, it’ll produce another 1,200 megawatts of electricity. That's enough to power about 1.2 million homes,” he said.
