Ontario Ombudsman reports decades-high number of cases in 2023-24

The 104 pages document says that the ombudsman received 27,030 cases – complaints and inquiries — in the fiscal year of  2023-2024. This is up 10 per cent from the previous year and the office’s highest in decades.

Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé handled a decades-high number of cases last year, according to his office's annual report.

The 104 pages document says that the Ombudsman received 27,030 cases — complaints and inquiries — in the fiscal year of 2023-2024. This is up 10 per cent from the previous year and the office’s highest in decades.

Dubé attributes this growth largely to his office’s expanded jurisdiction over the past five to eight years.
