The Ontario Liberals nominated Ottawa South MPP John Fraser as their first candidate for the next Ontario election, as the party prepares the groundwork for a possible early vote.

Fraser is one of the party's most well-known MPPs after serving twice as interim leader. He was also recently voted as most effective opposition critic in the 2024 QP Briefing survey.

Leader Bonne Crombie said in a statement announcing Fraser's nomination that her party was prepared to fight the next election, whenever it will happen.
