Two weeks after a scathing report from Ontario's auditor general determined the province routinely falls short on health care, Health Minister Sylvia Jones announced upgrades to a mental health facility in Simcoe County,
Speaking in Penetanguishene, situated on the coast of Georgian Bay, Jones announced the province is building a new 20-bed inpatient acute care unit at the town's Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. The unit will offer a variety of services including psychiatry, psychology, occupational and recreation therapy, as well as addictions counselling.
"Our plan to build a world class mental health and addictions system," Jones told reporters. "This exciting announcement…is another way our government is making it easier for Ontarians to access connected and convenient services in their community."
