Ontario Finance Minister calls for pause on federal Digital Services Tax

In a recent letter to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland, Ontario's Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy has urged the federal government to halt the implementation of a proposed Digital Services Tax.

The letter shows concerns over potential economic repercussions and the necessity to maintain a strong trade relationship with the United States.

“Implementing this tax not only imposes new costs on our economy, it could significantly harm our relationship with the United States,” Bethlenfalvy said in the letter.
