Ontario, feds agree to scrap environmental assessment for Highway 413

The Ontario and federal governments announced Monday that a court had approved their deal to end litigation over the proposed Greater Toronto Area highway, paving the way for a simplified assessment process for the project.

Highway 413 has cleared a major hurdle.

The Ontario and federal governments announced Monday that a court had approved their deal to end litigation over the proposed Greater Toronto Area highway, paving the way for a simplified assessment process for the project.

The announcement ends years of squabbling over the controversial roadway and will lead to a joint review process for the project that will involve input from both orders of government.
