As some nurse practitioner clinics start charging for access, NDP Leader Marit Stiles is calling for a special audit into how these fees are being imposed on patients accessing primary care services in Ontario.
In January, the government’s plan to expand the number of facilities offering services such as cataract surgeries and MRIs raised concerns among some health advocates who worried it would be a step towards incentivizing privatization.
There are currently more than 900 private health facilities in the province, mostly providing diagnostic imaging services.
