Karen McCrimmon says she's banking on the relationships she cultivated in her six years on Parliament Hill to help in her new role as liaison to the federal Liberal caucus.
Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie named McCrimmon to the post in a critic shuffle last week, where she also tapped the newest member of the party's Queen's Park caucus to handle the education, colleges and universities file.
McCrimmon served from 2015 to 2021 as the MP for Kanata-Carleton, a sprawling riding that covers Ottawa's westernmost suburbs. She re-entered the political arena last year to run for the Ontario Liberals in the provincial version of her former riding — they share the same boundaries — in a July byelection and shocked many by flipping the riding red. It was the first time the Ontario Liberals had ever won Kanata-Carleton.
