Toronto MPP Adil Shamji on Tuesday officially launched his bid for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party, joining a crowded field of candidates seeking the job.
“We have a Liberal Party that needs to be renewed and rebuilt,” Shamji said in an interview with QP Briefing. “No one can do things in a more different way than I can.”
Prior to entering politics, Shamji worked as a physician at the Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ran the hospital’s Enhanced Shelter Support Program, which sought to provide medical care to Toronto’s homeless population.
