Crombie was still unclear whether she opposes the federal carbon pricing mechanism or if she has plans to re-establish the previous Liberal cap-and-trade program.

Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie took a stand on a consumer carbon tax on Monday saying her party won't implement one if it wins the next election.

The announcement came as Crombie unveiled a new panel to develop the party's climate-change policies. Crombie's announcement countered Ford’s main criticism of her, whom he has been labeling as the “queen of carbon tax.”

"We will ensure major polluters pay, but we will not have an Ontario carbon tax on consumers," Crombie said.
