With the U.S. election decided, Ontario Premier Doug Ford is urging the new Trump administration to embrace a "Buy Can-Am" approach, betting big on cross-border trade and cooperation.

In a statement early Wednesday, Ford congratulated President-elect Donald Trump and Vice-President-elect JD Vance on their victory, remembering Ontario’s role as a cornerstone of the U.S.-Canada trade.

“Ontario is uniquely positioned to meet the U.S. demand for critical minerals needed in EV batteries and other technologies,” Ford said. "Now is the time to double down on the U.S.-Ontario partnership, especially in sectors that will shape our shared future."
