Ford to announce new municipal funding deal with the City of Ottawa: source

A source said the deal is comparable to the pact the province reached with Toronto last month in that it's a broad funding agreement that will be contingent on federal contributions.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is visiting Ottawa on Thursday, where he's expected to make a significant funding announcement with the city, iPolitics has learned.

A source close to the announcement says Ford will announce a broad funding deal with the City of Ottawa when he appears as a guest at the mayor's breakfast series at Ottawa City Hall. He'll be joined by Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe at the event, and will take part in a fireside chat, according to the premier's itinerary.

The source said the deal is comparable to the pact the province reached with Toronto last month in that it's a broad funding agreement that will be contingent on federal contributions.
