PC Leader Doug Ford’s trip to Washington, D.C., during the middle of the province’s snap election campaign, as he also serves as chair of the council of the federation, which is made up of all Canadian premiers.

He joined other Canadian premiers in the U.S. capital to push back against President Donald Trump’s newly imposed 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

Ford framed the visit as crucial to protecting Ontario’s economic interests, but his opponents are saying that it is an inappropriate use of his position during an election period.
