Premier Doug Ford said he is “fully supportive” of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian autos but said that any retaliatory measures would be a decision for the federal government, without getting in details about what these measures would be.
Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park on Thursday, Ford talked about the importance of a unified approach across all provinces, calling the federal government response a “measured” one.
“I do believe and I would support retaliation tariffs very similar to what they have against us in the auto sector, but that is strictly up to the Prime Minister,” Ford said.
