Ford government seems supportive of involuntary treatment but refrains from firm commitment

A source familiar with discussions on the topic told QP Briefing that government officials are already talking about the issue, and there appears to be considerable support for it.

Some Ontario municipalities are urging the province to allow involuntary treatment of people with addictions issues, and it appears the Ford government is paying close attention.

A source familiar with discussions on the topic told QP Briefing that government officials are already talking about the issue, and there appears to be considerable support for it.

“Sometimes it feels like politicians need to be publicly asked to do something, especially when it involves a sensitive topic, in order to be able to go and make it happen, and I think this is what is happening here,” the source said.
