Ford has often clashed with Trudeau on domestic issues but agreed “a hundred per cent” with the prime minister on this front. He said that Canadians would not back down, promising a series of counter measures to respond to Trump.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford agreed with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claim that U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs aim not just to harm Canada’s economy, but to set the stage for a potential annexation.

Answering a question by QP Briefing on Tuesday, Ford rejected Trump’s position that the goal of the tariffs — 25 per cent on Canadian exports and 10 per cent on energy — is to curb fentanyl imports.

Ford said that the move is a direct attack on Canada’s economic stability.
