Doug Ford says a re-elected Progressive Conservative government would ban Chinese state-owned enterprises from acquiring stakes in or supplying components for Ontario’s energy, critical minerals, and major infrastructure projects.
Ford said the ban is part of a plan by the PCs to “secure Ontario’s energy supply by investing in local energy production and storage while ensuring foreign entities do not have access to critical infrastructure assets.”
The ban comes amid trade tensions with the U.S., which escalated over the weekend, with President Donald Trump saying he will moving forward with the new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, including Canadian products.
