Doug Ford avoids post-debate media scrum again

While in Washington, D.C. last week, Ford engaged with the media. During his two-day trip, he participated in five separate media scrums, including sessions after speeches, meetings, and as he entered and exited the White House.

PC Leader Doug Ford once again opted out of facing reporters following a televised debate. This is the second time Ford decides not to make himself available to the media.

Monday night’s debate in Toronto saw leaders from Ontario’s four major political parties spar over key issues like healthcare and climate policy. While the post-debate tradition typically includes media scrums with all leaders, only three participated—Ford was absent.

When questioned about Ford’s decision to leave before engaging with journalists, his campaign responded that he had been accessible throughout the campaign. However, they did not directly address why he skipped the post-debate scrum.
