Premier Doug Ford is remaining tight-lipped on the province's next steps regarding the Barrie’s boundary adjustment dispute.
A recently released independent report said the municipality has a “strong case” for the expansion, though it's unclear if it will be enough to break a deadlock in negotiations. Oro-Medonte's mayor has said he still believes Barrie doesn't need additional land.
In the past, Ford has said that Barrie is the only municipality who has the infrastructure in place to get housing starts going, and Minister of Housing Paul Calandra recently weighed in on the issue as well, saying that the province’s land development facilitator is mediating talks, but the government may intervene if negotiations stall.
