As AMO conference begins, municipal leaders call on province to help tackle homelessness, addiction issues

As the annual gathering of Ontario municipal leaders kicks off in Ottawa, calls are growing for the province and feds to play a bigger role in addressing housing, homelessness and addictions issues.

But Colin Best, president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), said his members are also waiting for a response from the province on a promised municipal code of conduct.

"At last year’s conference, the loudest applause was for a question asking the government when it would deliver on its commitment to a new municipal code of conduct," he said in an interview.
