Premier Doug Ford says construction of a new highway in the Greater Toronto Area that was the subject of a back-and-forth feud between the province and Ontario will finally start in 2025.
Ford made the announcement at a ceremonial ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday in Caledon, Ont. The announcement came ahead of two byelections on Thursday, including a hotly contested race in Milton, a battleground riding.
The road, dubbed Highway 413, is a projected 52 km (32 mi) route with a four-to-six-lane freeway that would go around the cities of Brampton and Vaughan, creating an outer ring road.
